Abstract

With the technological advance, the tools available on the internet to quickly carry out an academic work, corroborated the practice of plagiarism, distorting some students from producing texts of their own. Thus, the theme of this research was academic plagiarism in the context of students of the Law course at Centro Universitário Imepac de Araguari. The objective was to analyze the percentage of students, surveyed in the first semester of 2022, who performed plagiarism during graduation, as well as their justifications. Thus, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria for participation in the research, a questionnaire was carried out, via Google Forms, with these students, consisting of 7 questions, followed by an educational folder about plagiarism, with 116 students from a total of 344 from that course completed the survey, based on a stratified probability sample of this population. As a result, the hypothesis that most these students committed academic plagiarism was confirmed for one of the following reasons: lack of time, lack of information, lack of awareness, difficulty in writing their own text and certainty of non-punishment. In this way, it was inferred that students' awareness of the issue of plagiarism is necessary and urgent, since it is at the interface of the social role, in the educational environment, that fraud is established, becoming a daily challenge.
