About the Journal
History
Revista Master – Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão was established in January 2016 as a media for spreading research papers, extension programs, and teaching activities from the entire academic community of Instituto Master de Ensino Presidente Antônio Carlos (IMEPAC). Ever since, the journal has been consolidating itself as a means of propagating transformation possibilities based on theoretical, philosophical, and artistic guidelines that are opposed to other exclusive practices of knowledge production and the social hierarchy of objects of study.
Editorial coordination, editorial board, and publishing board are in charge of the journal management and the implementation of both its policy and administration. They follow the guidelines approved by CEPEC - Coordination of Extension, Research, Graduate Studies and Culture (Centro Universitário IMEPAC) and CIEP - Coordination of Scientific Initiation, Extension, and Graduate Studies (Faculdade Imepac de Itumbiara).
Revista Master is a journal with issues published periodically and multidisciplinary content open to the national and international scientific community. Its texts are evaluated through blind peer reviews and published in electronic format. Moreover, it is edited by Centro Universitário IMEPAC and Faculdade IMEPAC de Itumbiara.
Themes
Revista Master publishes research on different knowledge areas, embracing the fields of Natural and Earth Sciences, Life Sciences and Health, Engineering, Agricultural Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, and Human Sciences.
Focus and scope
Revista Master is a pluralistic, multidisciplinary, and open journal that aims to disseminate publications from the entire internal and external academic community. It intends to group teaching, research, and extension activities — through the production of professors, students, graduates, and academia in general — to provide the exchange of experience and learning in various knowledge areas. It also aims to insert current themes or issues into the same teaching, research, and extension activities. Revista Master accepts digital texts written both in Brazilian Portuguese and modern foreign languages (English and Spanish).
Sections
The journal is published in annual volumes consisting of two issues that are published separately and only available on the Internet. Each issue has a minimum of ten papers, which are classified typologically into original research articles, review articles, experience reports, application projects, reviews, and editorials.
Publication frequency
Revista Master publishes twice a year and submissions are received continually. Selected texts are published collectively when the issue’s table of contents is ready at the end of each semester.
Editorial workflow
The process of REVISTA MASTER consists of six stages.
Stage 1: It consists of an initial evaluation and acceptance of the submission by the editors. In this stage, the editorial team evaluates the submission (within 30 days) by focusing on detecting any occurrences of plagiarism (All texts that are accepted must pass through a software of plagiarism detection (Copy Spider)) and the manuscript’s adequacy to the editorial policy, code of ethics, and rules of submission. If the text is approved during this first stage, it is then forwarded to ad hoc reviewers who are experts in the same area of the study to evaluate the text.
Stage 2: After passing through this prior evaluation, at least two reviewers are selected to continue the process considering their expertise and/or affinity concerning the theme of the manuscript under consideration. These two professionals evaluate the quality of the study according to certain criteria, including conceptual rigor, academic relevance, originality, and clarity. They have the right to present a favorable assessment of the text with some suggestions for alteration and correction; they can also advise the editing of texts that have already been reviewed, provided these changes do not affect the study’s content. If the reviewers’ evaluation suggests recasting the text, all excerpts must be pointed out and these paragraphs and/or pages must be highlighted as required. This stage takes place within 20 days, although this deadline may be extended.
Stage 3: Manuscript revision. The suggestions for alteration by the reviewers are sent to the authors of the manuscript for the text to be changed, if necessary, within the deadline set by the editors (60 days). REVISTA MASTER claims the right to reject texts whose changes are not sent within the deadline.
Stage 4: Publication acceptance. The text, revised by its authors, is sent to the journal editors for them to confirm if the suggested changes were properly incorporated. Therefore, the insertion of the text onto an issue of the journal is authorized.
Stage 5: Pre-publication proofreading. The editors forward the text for proofreading in Brazilian Portuguese. Afterward, the text will be approved by the authors before its publication. If the authors do not respond to the reviewers’ suggestions within the deadline, the suggestions will be considered accepted.
Stage 6: Publishing the manuscript on REVISTA MASTER’S website.
With these measures, the entire process between submission and publication in REVISTA MASTER is expected to last from three to six months, considering eventual delays.
